Adam D. Benowitz
Portfolio Manager; Co-Founder

Adam Benowitz co-founded Vision in 2003 and is responsible for directing the overall investment strategy of the Firm. Previously, he was the Head Trader for Rose Glen Capital and spent ten years in various senior trading and portfolio management roles at Apex Capital Management, Susquehanna Investment Group, The American Stock Exchange, RMS Associates, and Legg Mason Wood Walker. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley.

Randolph B. Cohen, Ph.D.
Advisor; Business Development; Risk Management; Financial Operations

Randy Cohen serves as an advisor to Vision, providing guidance and strategic direction on Risk Management, Business Development, and Financial Operations. He is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Harvard Business School and previously held positions as an Actuarial Analyst at several firms in addition to serving as the President of Boston Auto Brokers. He has published working papers on the subjects of Alternative Investment Management, Asset Pricing, and Finance. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in Mathematics, cum laude, from Harvard University. He is a member of the American Finance Association and the European Finance Association.

Carl Kleidman
Director of Investments

Carl Kleidman brings 25 years of investment experience to Vision.  He oversees Vision’s Investment Team and manages the overall structure and execution of each investment transaction. Prior to joining Vision, Mr. Kleidman was a Managing Director at Centrecourt Asset Management and ComVest Investment Partners, as well as Head of Investment Banking at Commonwealth Associates and Barington Capital Group. Mr. Kleidman holds a J.D. from Cornell University Law School and a B.S. in Public Accounting & Finance, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University.

Andy Merkatz
Technology; Energy

Andy Merkatz is a member of Vision’s Investment Team, specializing in Technology and Energy.  Prior to joining Vision, he was the founder and Managing Partner of CountryRoad Capital and Managing Director and CFO of Verus Inernational, specializing in alternative public offerings.  Additionally, Andy served as President and CEO of Predict It, Inc., a publicly traded internet software company, and Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of SiteSpecific, one of the first internet advertising agencies. Prior to his entrepreneurial ventures, Andy worked in private equity at Interlaken Capital. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and B.A. in Economics, with distinction, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jonathan D. Shane
Quantitative Analysis; Risk Management

Jonathan Shane brings 31 years of experience in quantitative risk management and analysis to Vision.  He is a member of Vision’s Financial Operations Team and is responsible for Quantitative Portfolio Analysis and Risk Management.  Prior to joining Vision, he was Managing Director, Head of Quantitative Trading, Quantitative Portfolio Manager, and Investment Systems Officer at TIAA-CREF.  Jonathan also served as Vice President of the Bank of New York/Beacon Capital Management and worked at Dynamic Associates as a Senior Consultant.  Jonathan has fulfilled all requirements except thesis for a Ph.D. in Finance and Economics at MIT and holds an M.S. in Management and a B.S. Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

Robert H. Thomson

Rob Thomson is a member of Vision’s Investment Team, specializing in investments in Defense and Security industries.  Prior to Vision, Rob was the Managing Director of The Arkin Group LLC, an international business intelligence firm specializing in providing investigative due diligence to Fortune 500 companies and asset managers..  Additionally, he worked as an analyst for Steel Partners LP and a Research Associate for the Council of Foreign Relations.  Rob holds an M.B.A from the Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Eastern Asian Studies from Haverford College.  He is currently a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Jess Jones is a member of Vision’s Investment Team, specializing in Healthcare and Medical Technology.  Prior to Vision, he was a Research Associate at the Department of Neurosurgery at Columbia University and the Department of Radiology at the University of Utah.  He holds an M.D. from Columbia University, an M.B.A from Columbia Business School, and a B.A. from the University of Utah, and is fluent in Spanish.

Christopher Wall
Special Situations Consultant

Chris Wall is a member of the Vision’s Investment Team and focuses on the assessment, restructuring, monitoring and sale of distressed portfolio assets.  In addition, he identifies and assesses new investment opportunities in financially distressed companies. Prior to joining Vision’s he was Director of Corporate Development for Organica AG, Director of Business Development for Harbor Technology Group, and an Associate for Scient Corp. Mr. Wall has a B.A. in Philosophy and Economics from Columbia University and serves as a Director on the board of 4 Elements, Inc.  He is fluent in French and German.

Firas Abi-Nassif
Telecom; Technology

Firas Abi-Nassif is a member of Vision’s Investment Team, specializing in investments in Telecommunications and Technology. He began his career as a research and advanced development engineer at Motorola, Inc. Prior to Vision, he was a technology investment-banker at Credit Suisse, and a founding engineer of the public company Airvana, Inc.  In addition, he served as Special Advisor to Edgar Masri, the President and CEO of 3Com Corp.  He holds an M.B.A, cum laude, from Harvard Business School, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, and a B.E. in Computer and Communications Engineering, with distinction, from the American University of Beirut.  He is fluent in Arabic and French and holds six international patents in the field of data communications networks.

Antti Uusiheimala is a member of Vision's Investment Team and focuses on the diligence, assessment and monitoring of complex, unique deal structures. Prior to joining Vision, he worked as an Associate Lawyer at ACE Law Ltd and was Business Development Manager for CRF Health, Inc., a software company servicing the pharmaceutical clinical trial industry. He has an L.L.M. in Law and Economics from the University of Helsinski, Finland, and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. Additionally, he served as a Sergeant Major in the Finnish Armed Forces and fluent in Finnish and Swedish.

Yiting Liu is a member of Vision’s Investment Team and is responsible for investments in companies operating in Greater China.  Prior to joining Vision, Ms. Liu worked at PepsiCo's Corporate Strategy & Development Group, The Boston Consulting Group, Morgan Stanley, and China International Capital Corporation.  She has a B.A. in Applied Mathematics & Economics, cum laude, from Harvard University and is fluent in Mandarin.

Ye (Sophie) Tao, CFA

Ye (Sophie) Tao is a member of Vision’s Investment Team, specializing in investments in Greater China.  Prior to joining Vision, she worked with the Ministry of Commerce of China in Beijing and Banc of America Securities.  Additionally, she worked for NERA Economic Consulting and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Sophie holds an M.P.A. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of International Business & Economics in Beijing.  Sophie is a C.F.A charter holder and is fluent in Mandarin.

Tianning (Tina) Yu, Ph.D.

Tianning (Tina) Yu is a member of Vision’s Investment Team and responsible for investments in Healthcare Industry as well as firms operating in Greater China.  Prior to Vision, she was a senior research scientist at Wyeth BioPharma and worked for Genzyme Biosurgery, Morgan Stanley, and Fidelity Asia Ventures in Hong Kong.  She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and a B.S. from The University of Science and Technology of China.  Tina is fluent in Mandarin.

Prior to joining Vision, he was a Senior Vice President of Institutional Sales at UNX, Inc., a junior trader at UBS Warburg, and worked in Institutional Sales at Brut LLC.  He holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Rhode Island.

Jean Nina Wang

Jean Wang is a member of Vision’s Investment Team, where she interacts with a broad network of investment banks, private equity funds, and finders to source new investment opportunities. Before joining Vision, she was the Managing Director of West Coast Sales at Vintage Filings, LLC where she built strong relationships with Investment Banking and Venture Capital firms. Jean holds a B.A. in Economics from San Francisco State University.

David Berger leads the Financial Controls and Operations Department at Vision. Prior to joining Vision, he worked at Rothstein Kass, Tapestry Asset Management, and Deutsche Bank in various roles relating to asset management accounting and financial reporting. Lisa Snow brings 20 years of legal experience to Vision, leading Vision’s Legal and Compliance Team as the Firm’s General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.  Prior to joining Vision, she was the Vice President & General Counsel, Corporate & Tax Law for TIAA-CREF.  She was also an Associate at Parker, Chapin, Flattau & Klimpl and Seward & Kissel.  Lisa holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and a B.A. in Economics, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.  She is a member of the New York State Bar.

Director of Business Development

David Benway is the Director of Business Development at Vision. He is responsible for the team that executes the marketing program and investor relations services, as well as new business projects and general firm-wide operations. David has more than 15 years experience on Wall Street, including Goldman Sachs & Co., BNP Cooper-Neff Group, Rose Glen Capital and Twin Securities. He has a B.A. in Government from St. Lawrence University and an MBA in Finance from New York University. David is an executive director of the Vision Opportunity China Fund Limited.

Robert J. Potvin, Jr.

Bob Potvin joined Vision’s Business Development Team with 17 years of experience in Institutional Sales.  He is responsible for institutional sales, particularly among endowments and foundations. Prior to joining Vision, Bob served as co-Director of Mellon Asset Management’s Alternative Group and as Director of Sales, Marketing, and Client Service for the Mellon Growth Advisors (MGA) subsidiary.  Additionally, he was Managing Director of Boston Safe Advisors, Inc. and Director of Planning Operations for Lincoln Financial Services, where he served as Managing Principal for their New England Operations. He holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Allan Rowe is a member of Vision’s Business Development Team.  His primary focus is analyzing projects and strategic initiatives, as well as supporting marketing and financial operations within the firm.  Prior to joining Vision he worked in Fixed Income Sales at Barclays Capital and served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy.  He holds an M.B.A from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy.

She has a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin.
